Vendor Watch — Weekly Martech Digest

Coverage window: August 31 – September 7, 2026 Prepared for: CRMT Digital Marketing Operations Scope: Priority vendors from the Vendor Tracking spreadsheet, plus a scan for new/emerging competing platforms in marketing automation, CRM, lead management, data management, attribution, and ABM.

Executive Summary

It was a moderately active week across the priority vendor list, with five items rising to High business impact. HubSpot shipped a mandatory, all-customer rollout of its redesigned Smart CRM index — an immediate, visible change for anyone managing client HubSpot instances. Salesforce used its Winter ‘27 release (published right at the window’s start) to push agentic marketing capabilities deeper into Marketing Cloud, including natural-language audience building and an autonomous “Marketing Goals Agent” for campaign orchestration. LeanData shipped one of its largest releases of the year — AI-assisted flow building, an upgraded AI inference node, and expanded event/meeting-scheduling tools — directly relevant given LeanData sits in CRMT’s own data/analytics stack. Clay launched a general-availability email sequencer, expanding from data enrichment into outbound campaign execution, a meaningful scope expansion for a vendor CRMT already tracks for data enrichment. And Marketo’s REST API authentication change took effect at the very start of the window, which is a live risk for any client integration still using the deprecated auth method.

Several Medium-impact items are worth flagging to client teams: Salesforce restructured its pricing into three consolidated editions; Microsoft is retiring the Dynamics 365 “release wave” communication model in favor of a continuous roadmap (action required before a November 15, 2026 cutover); Demandbase shipped incremental ABM/sales-intelligence enhancements; and HubSpot added an embeddable AI-visibility (AEO) widget that could be a useful client-facing offer.

Eloqua, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Advanced Edition, and Openprise had no news in the window (see footnote). The new-vendor scan found the week unusually quiet for fresh market entrants in these categories — see the Watchlist note at the end for names worth tracking even though nothing new happened with them this specific week.

Items by Business Impact

1. HubSpot — Redesigned Smart CRM Index rolled out to all customers

Business impact: High

HubSpot’s redesigned CRM index page (faster list views, inline reports, column insights) — previously an opt-in beta — became the default, mandatory experience for all customers on September 4, 2026. This changes the day-to-day CRM interface for every client account CRMT manages or trains users on.

Recommended action: Alert client-facing teams and any documentation/training materials that reference the old CRM index UI. Spot-check key client instances for broken saved views or custom list configurations that may not have carried over cleanly.

2. Salesforce — Winter ‘27 release pushes agentic capabilities into Marketing Cloud

Business impact: High

Salesforce’s official Winter ‘27 release announcement (published August 31, 2026) introduced a natural-language audience-building capability — marketers describe a target audience in plain language and the system auto-builds the audience plan — plus an activation agent that configures campaigns across ad platforms and flags errors before deployment. The Agentforce Marketing Goals Agent was also highlighted: marketers set goals and budgets while the agent “orchestrates and optimizes every campaign in real time,” with early pilot feedback cited.

Recommended action: Review with the consultancy team as a potential differentiator/upsell conversation for enterprise clients on Marketing Cloud, and assess data-readiness prerequisites before recommending pilot adoption (data unification is a stated dependency — see item 7 below).

3. LeanData — Major Q3 2026 platform release

Business impact: High

LeanData shipped a significant release on September 1, 2026: an AI Assistant for Admins (conversational, natural-language flow building in FlowBuilder), an upgraded AI Inference Node (LLM-powered classification/extraction/summarization with web search and Anthropic/Azure model support), BookIt for Tradeshows (event-aware scheduling), two-way calendar/RSVP tracking, a Dun & Bradstreet integration for white-space account discovery, embedded BookIt Handoff/Invite for Outreach and Salesloft, BookIt MCP v2, and LeanData Journeys (an AI-assisted upgrade to Buying Groups).

Recommended action: LeanData sits in CRMT’s own data/analytics stack — worth a hands-on evaluation of the AI Assistant for Admins and the new AI Inference Node for routing-flow efficiency gains across managed client instances.

4. Clay — General availability launch of Clay Sequencer

Business impact: High

Clay announced GA of “Clay Sequencer” on September 1, 2026, extending its core enrichment platform into outbound email campaign execution: integrated deliverability tooling (in-platform domain/inbox purchasing, auto warm-up, bounce tracking), always-on list refresh, context-aware AI copywriting drawing on 200+ data providers, and reply-routing/analytics. This moves Clay from a pure data-enrichment tool into direct overlap with lead-management and outbound-execution platforms.

Recommended action: Evaluate whether Sequencer changes Clay’s role in client tech stacks — it could reduce the need for a separate sequencing tool, which has implications for stack consolidation recommendations in client audits.

5. Marketo — REST API authentication change now in effect

Business impact: High

Adobe’s deprecation of the access_token query-parameter authentication method for Marketo’s REST API took effect after August 31, 2026; Authorization-header-based authentication is now required. Any integration still using the old method will now be failing.

Recommended action: Immediately audit any custom Marketo integrations built or maintained for clients (data feeds, sync jobs, reporting pulls) to confirm they use header-based auth. This is a live break risk, not a future one.

6. Salesforce — New consolidated Edition tiers announced (Core / Advanced / Max)

Business impact: Medium

On September 3, 2026, Salesforce introduced three bundled edition tiers — Core ($195/user/mo), Advanced ($395/user/mo), and Max ($550/user/mo, no increase versus the legacy Agentforce 1 price) — consolidating Slack, Tableau Next, Premier Success Plan, security, and AI agents into single SKUs for Sales, Service, and Industry clouds. Marketing Cloud-specific bundling was not explicitly confirmed in the announcement.

Recommended action: Track for upcoming client renewal/licensing conversations; confirm with Salesforce reps whether Marketing Cloud or Account Engagement customers are affected by the repackaging.

7. Salesforce — Agentforce Marketing implementation framework published

Business impact: Medium

Salesforce published an implementation framework for Agentforce Marketing on September 4, 2026, structured around “Data > Audience > Action > Goal,” recommending clients verify data unification/trust and establish clear KPI ownership before deploying marketing agents. Drawn from a Dreamforce 2026 practitioner roundtable.

Recommended action: Useful reference for any Salesforce Marketing Cloud client scoping conversation — the data-readiness checklist aligns well with CRMT’s data-enrichment and compliance service lines and could be positioned as a pre-requisite engagement.

8. Dynamics 365 — Release Wave communications model retiring; action needed before Nov 15

Business impact: Medium

Microsoft is retiring the twice-yearly Dynamics 365/Power Platform “release wave” model (affecting Sales, Customer Service, and Customer Insights – Journeys/Marketing roadmap content) in favor of continuous publishing to a unified “AI at Work” roadmap. This is a communications/format change, not a change to product delivery. New capabilities begin publishing to the new roadmap from September 2026; the Release Planner tool — including any saved custom views under “My Release Plans” — retires November 15, 2026 and will not carry saved views forward.

Recommended action: Any team tracking Dynamics 365 roadmap items via saved Release Planner views should export or recreate those views before November 15, 2026, and begin monitoring the new AI at Work roadmap going forward.

9. Demandbase — September 2026 product update

Business impact: Medium

Demandbase shipped a September 3, 2026 update adding a Demandbase + DemandWorks integration (automatic sync of qualified accounts into DemandWorks campaigns, removing manual data transfer) and enhancements to Account Intelligence Agent contact cards for Demandbase One for Sales — direct CRM contact export, add/remove from integrated sales tools, AI email drafting, and clickable CRM account links.

Recommended action: Flag to teams running Demandbase ABM programs as an incremental workflow improvement; no urgent action required.

10. HubSpot — New embeddable AI Search Sensor (AEO) widget

Business impact: Medium

On September 2, 2026, HubSpot released an embeddable widget version of its AI Search Sensor, letting websites display AI-answer-engine visibility metrics (tracking brand presence across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity) directly on-site.

Recommended action: Consider as a potential value-add for client website/reporting engagements — answer-engine-optimization visibility is a growing client interest area.

11. HubSpot — UI redesign now mandatory for all users

Business impact: Low

HubSpot’s broader interface redesign (announced back in June 2026) moved to mandatory rollout on August 31, 2026, meaning all users are now on the new design. Community feedback has reportedly been mixed regarding contrast and readability changes.

Recommended action: Update any training decks, screenshots, or screen-recordings used in client onboarding materials that show the old HubSpot UI.

12. 6sense — Named Frost & Sullivan 2026 Global Company of the Year

Business impact: Low

Frost & Sullivan named 6sense its 2026 Global Company of the Year in the GTM orchestration/revenue-intelligence category (September 1, 2026), citing its data/identity foundation, predictive buying-stage models, and conversational AI (RevvyAI). This is a third-party award, not a product change.

Recommended action: No action needed; useful market-perception context if 6sense comes up in client vendor-selection conversations.

13. LeanData — “State of AI Go-to-Market Readiness” research report

Business impact: Low

LeanData published survey research (157 GTM practitioners, fielded May 2026) on August 31, 2026, finding 79% of RevOps/sales professionals are scaling or deploying AI agents, but 70% cite bad/inconsistent CRM data, undocumented processes, or team silos as undermining AI GTM execution.

Recommended action: Useful supporting data point for CRMT’s data-enrichment and compliance service pitches — no direct action needed, but worth citing in client-facing materials on AI readiness.

14. Clay — Weekly product roundup (NAICS filtering and minor UX updates)

Business impact: Low

Clay’s August 31, 2026 changelog post (covering the week of August 24) added NAICS industry-code filtering for company segmentation, prorated refunds on mid-cycle plan upgrades, clearer enrichment descriptions, and clickable links in Clay’s MCP widget results.

Recommended action: No action needed; NAICS filtering may be worth noting to teams using Clay for ABM segmentation.

15. New/emerging vendor scan — quiet week, two weak signals

Business impact: Low

The scan for new competing vendors found this to be an unusually quiet week in the core categories tracked (marketing automation, CRM, lead management, data management, attribution, ABM). Two minor items surfaced: Position² (a growth-marketing agency) publicly introduced “Arena,” a proprietary AI-orchestration/data-unification layer built on top of common martech tools (September 3, 2026) — not a standalone SaaS competitor today, but an example of the orchestration-layer pattern occupied by 6sense/Demandbase/Openprise. Zoho added MCP support and coding-assistant integrations to its Catalyst developer PaaS (week of September 4, 2026) — a developer-infrastructure update, not a CRM/marketing-automation feature release, but a loose signal of continued AI investment from a lower-tier Salesforce/HubSpot alternative.

Recommended action: No action needed this week.

Watchlist for Next Cycle (not this week’s news — no action required now)

The new-vendor research this cycle also surfaced several funding rounds and launches from July–August 2026 that fell just outside this 7-day window but are worth keeping on the radar as they may generate follow-on news soon: Attio ($52M raise, AI-native CRM), Hightouch ($150M Series D, “agentic marketing platform”), Queen One ($25M raise, AI commerce CRM), Acoustic (agentic marketing-teammate launch), and Influ2 (contact-level ABM/MCP launch). None require action today, but they’re plausible future entries in this digest.

Also note: the Salesforce–Anthropic “Claudeforce” partnership (announced August 26, 2026) has an open beta expected in September 2026 and may generate reportable follow-up news in the next cycle.

Footnote: Vendors with no news this week

No product, release, or company news was found published between August 31 and September 7, 2026, for the following priority vendors:

  • Oracle Eloqua — most recent release (26C) shipped in August 2026, outside this window; no news items or deadlines found in-window.
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement — no dedicated news in-window (general Salesforce/Marketing Cloud items are covered under items 2, 6, and 7 above).
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud Advanced Edition — no edition-specific news in-window (see note above).
  • Openprise — no announcements found; note that structured release-notes pages were inaccessible to automated research this cycle, so this should be treated as “nothing found” rather than a confirmed absence of activity. A manual check of Openprise’s release notes is recommended if precise version history is needed.
